The Venezuela government harshly repudiated the US decision to double the reward for Nicolás Maduro’s arrest.

The new figure, announced on Thursday (7), reaches $ 50 million-about $ 272 million-and is the biggest reward in history offered by Washington, exceeding even the amount intended for Osama Bin Laden after September 11 attacks.

For Caracas, it is a “ridiculous smoke curtain” and part of an offensive propagandistic of former President Donald Trump, who tries to reelect himself amid successive internal crises.

“The show is a joke, a desperate distraction from its own miseries. The dignity of our homeland is not for sale,” wrote Venezuelan chancellor Yván Gil, in a message published on Telegram.

The government classifies the measure as part of a systematic persecution against Maduro and rejects any legitimacy of the accusation of “narcoterrorism” by Washington since 2020.

Venezuela also recalls that the US does not recognize the result of the 2024 elections, won by Maduro, and continue to support opponent Edmundo González Urrutia as “legitimate president.”

The billionaire reward was announced on a video by US Attorney General Pam Bondi, who again accused Maduro of leading international trafficking networks, using alleged connections with groups such as the Aragua Tren, the Sinaloa Cartel and the Los Soles cartel.

The DEA claims to have seized 30 tons of cocaine linked to the Venezuelan government, with seven tons allegedly attributed to the president himself. In addition, more than $ 700 million in Maduro goods would have been confiscated, including jets and luxury vehicles.

Bondi stated that, “under the leadership of President Trump, Maduro will not escape justice,” also stating that the exported drug of Venezuela would be mixed with Fentanil, responsible for thousands of deaths in the US.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio endorsed the speech, claiming that Maduro “stifled democracy” and that his reelection was fraudulent. At the same time, the White House maintains dialogue with Caracas to free US citizens in Venezuela-ten were released last month, mediating El Salvador, in direct negotiations with high chavist staff.
