US and Brazil Trade Chambers position themselves against 50% tariff

Important commercial entities issued a public note on Tuesday (7) in which they ask for dialogue to prevent the 50% rate from imported products from Brazil to the United States in force on 1 August.

The joint text of the US Chamber of Commerce (US Chamber of Commerce) – understood as the world’s largest business organization – and the American Chamber of Commerce for Brazil (AMcham Brazil) – the largest entity of its kind among the 117 existing US – ask the governments of both countries to engage in the risk of “causing serious damage to one of the most important economic relations in the United States, as well as establishing a worrying precedent.

Brazil is among the top ten markets for exports in the United States and is a destination each year of about US $ 60 billion in US goods and services.
