Unesco (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) invited President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to participate in the international forum “Internet for Trust”. Minister Roberto Barroso, from the STF (Federal Supreme Court), and influencer Felipe Neto also received invitations to speak at the event.
The forum will be held from February 21 to 23 at the organization’s headquarters in Paris (France). Internet-related topics will be discussed, including government and civil society participation in regulating the network. Read the full event guidelines (598 KB).
Lula has already declared that he is in favor of regulating the media and social networks on several occasions. On February 2, the president touched on the subject again and said he would take the discussion to the G20.
“Especially because I think the only way to have regulation is through dialogue. It is not possible to regulate only in one country. Therefore, it needs to be a subject to be discussed at the G20”he stated.
