The UN Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on Iran condemned this Wednesday (4) the attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against the country and called for an immediate end to hostilities.

In an official statement, the organization stated that the offensive violates international law and defended urgent diplomatic actions to contain the military escalation.

“The Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the attacks against Iran carried out by Israel and the United States of America,” the document says.

The mission says that the attacks “contradict the Charter of the United Nations, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any State”.

Last Saturday, the United States and Israel began a military offensive against the Persian country without presenting justifications considered plausible by the international community.

Since then, the Iranian government has announced the death of the supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, and other officials in the country in bombings carried out by both countries.

The mission states that it is “appalled by the fact that dozens of Iranian officials were killed in targeted airstrikes conducted by the United States and Israel” and emphasizes that “extrajudicial deprivation of life is not an acceptable means of delivering justice under international law.”

The FFMI also criticized the bombing of a school in the city of Minab. According to the document, the mission is “deeply shocked by reports that US and Israeli airstrikes have hit schools in Iran.”

“In the deadliest and most catastrophic incident of its kind, a missile reportedly killed more than 150 students and teachers and injured many others when it hit a school in Minab,” the text states, adding that “the vast majority of victims appear to be girls between the ages of seven and twelve.”
