Trump’s “truth” is official denialism as a tool of the State

The portal is the culmination of a communication strategy that aims to consolidate the narrative that January 6th was not an insurrection, but a “tragedy” caused by deliberate security failures by the Democratic opposition.

Blame Reversal and Targeting Pelosi

The centerpiece of the new official narrative focuses on the figure of Nancy Pelosi, then speaker of the House. Ignoring fact-checks from independent agencies and the 2022 Select Committee reports, the White House website claims that Pelosi refused the offer of 10,000 National Guard troops — a claim that the official 2022 US government report had already refuted, pointing out that there was never a formal order from Trump for such a mobilization before the chaos began.

The site uses video and audio excerpts of Pelosi stating “we have utterly failed” to suggest an admission of institutional guilt, while sparing Trump of his responsibility as the “central architect” of the plan to overturn the 2020 election, as detailed in the Select Committee’s extensive final report.

Forgiveness as a “Historical Correction”

More than a battle of narratives, the Trump administration moved to practical action. The portal highlights the general pardons granted on January 20, 2025 to around 1,600 defendants. Those who the Department of Justice (DOJ) classified as seditious conspirators (including leaders of extremist groups like Proud Boys) are now portrayed as victims of a “grave national injustice.”

The official website goes further and attacks the basis of the original investigation, accusing the 2022 Select Committee of deleting data and being purely partisan. It is the State using its transparency channels to discredit the Legislative Power of previous years.

Conflict of narratives

The discrepancy between historical records and the new government version reveals an institutional abyss. While the 2022 Select Committee Report defined the event as the culmination of a multi-step scheme to keep Trump in power illegally, the website launched in 2026 describes it as a “peaceful protest” sabotaged by the “Deep State.” In the 2022 record, the responsibility lies with Trump for inciting the armed mob; In the current version, the role of blame is transferred to Nancy Pelosi and former vice president Mike Pence.

Reviewing the facts also changes the perception of victims. If the original report focused on the 140 injured police officers and the direct attack on democracy, the 2026 portal lists as “victims” the protesters who suffered what it calls judicial persecution, ignoring the convictions for conspiracy against the State that marked the Biden period.

The danger of memory erasure

Journalistic sources such as The Washington Post e Axios warn that the creation of this official website is an attempt to “rewrite history” without presenting new evidence, merely reusing political rhetoric with the seal of the federal government.

Faced with the Trump administration’s offensive, former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, issued a blunt official note reaffirming the facts established by Justice and Congress. Pelosi called the new White House portal a “dangerous fantasy” and disrespectful to the Constitution.

“No official website or political pardon can erase the violence that the entire world witnessed live. The Select Committee established, with exhaustive evidence, that the only person responsible for the attack on our democracy was Donald Trump. Blaming those who were targeted by his violent mob is not just a cynical lie; it is an ongoing attack on the very Republic he swore to protect,” Pelosi declared.
