Trump makes a new threat and imposes a 35% tariff against Canada products

United States President Donald Trump, who had already threatened to attach Canada, sent a letter to that country’s Prime Minister Mark Carnery, in which he reported the imposition of a 35% rate on imported Canadian products.

Trump also made a new threat: “If for any reason you decide to increase your fares, then, whatever the number you choose to increase, it will be added to the 35% we charge.”

“The Canadian government has promptly defended our workers and companies. We will continue to do that,” the Prime Minister wrote in X in response to Trump.

“As you should remember, the United States imposed tariffs on Canada to deal with the national fentanil crisis, caused in part by the failure of Canada from preventing drugs from entering our country. Instead of working with the United States, Canada retaliated with their own tariffs,” Trump accuses the letter.

In addition to the flow of fentanil, the US president claimed that Canada has tariff policies that cause unsustainable commercial deficits against the United States.

“Canada charges extraordinary rates from our dairy producers – up to 400% – and even considering that our dairy farmers have access to sell their products to the people of Canada. Commercial deficit is a great threat to our economy and, in fact, to our national security!” He justified.
