The Republicans’ strategy of toning down former US President Donald Trump’s speech was short-lived. For one hour and 32 minutes, the candidate spoke at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin on Thursday (19) about prejudice and retrograde policies, criticizing environmental policies and promising the largest deportation of immigrants in history.
This was Trump’s first speech since he was the victim of an assassination attempt during a rally last Saturday (13). He appeared on stage with a bandage on his right ear.
At the beginning of his speech, Trump advocated unity, stating that everyone is a citizen of the same country. He also said that the presidential election will be about solving the problems facing the United States.
“I’m running to be president of all of America, not half of it. There’s no winning for half of America,” he said.
“To every citizen, whether young or old, male or female, Democrat, Republican or Independent, black or white, Asian or Hispanic, I extend to you a hand of loyalty and friendship,” he tried to deceive.
However, further on, Trump distilled all his prejudice against Latino immigrants, who seek a better life in the United States by passing between Mexico and the neighboring country.
“We have an illegal immigration crisis. A massive invasion at our southern border that has spread misery, crime, poverty, disease and destruction in communities across our borders,” he said.
“They [imigrantes] are coming from prisons and jails, from mental institutions and asylums, and terrorists at levels never seen before,” Trump said.
Trump also promised to close the border with Mexico and finish building a wall between the two countries. The work began during his administration, between 2017 and 2021.
The tycoon went on to say that, starting in 2025, there will be “a new era of security and prosperity for citizens of any creed or color.” “We will resolve this divide (referring to bipolarity and various types of prejudice). Together, we will fight. I want to be the president of all of the United States, not just a piece of it. With faith and dedication, I accept the nomination of all of you as a candidate for president of the United States,” he said.
Trump criticized the Joe Biden administration for ending anti-immigration policies that he put in place during his administration, promising that, if elected, the actions should be resumed in the first few days. “With the right leadership, every disaster that we are facing now will be corrected — and it will be corrected very, very quickly,” he said. The Republican also promised to end the policy of incentives for electric cars and called the environmental laws recently adopted by the United States “ridiculous”. Along the same lines, he promised incentives for energy production.
