The Spanish government ordered this Tuesday (19) the investigation into crimes that X, Meta and TikTok were committing by disseminating sexual content with children generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI).
“Today, the Council of Ministers will invoke Article 8 of the Organic Statute of the Public Ministry to request an investigation into the crimes that X, Meta and TikTok may be committing through the creation and dissemination of child pornography using their artificial intelligence,” wrote the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez (PSOE).
According to Agência Lupa, to support the opening of an investigation, the Spanish government prepared a report containing information from various ministries about the cases.

In just 11 days, for example, the social network X’s AI generated more than three million images of naked bodies, including 23 thousand of children.
“Criminal responsibilities in practices that are increasingly common in the digital environment, such as the generation and dissemination of sexual content and child pornography through ultra fakes (‘deepfakes’) and the manipulation of real images to create others with explicit sexual content, with the possible participation of social networks”, says the government statement.
“Social networks have become a failed state, where laws are ignored and crimes are tolerated and children are exposed to a space they should never navigate alone, an addictive space of abuse, violence, pornography and manipulation,” says Sánchez.
