The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) KC-30 plane landed in Beirut, capital of Lebanon, at 11:22 am this Saturday (5). This is the first rescue flight of Operation Raízes do Cedro, which aims to repatriate 220 Brazilians and their families after Israel’s attacks on the country. The flight must have more people as infants can be included.

The aircraft departed Lisbon, Portugal, on Saturday morning, where it will also make a stop before arriving in Brazil on Sunday (6), at Guarulhos Air Base (SP), according to forecasts.

Israel brings war to Beirut and forces Lebanese army to respond

The Operation intends to rescue up to 500 people per week, in addition to bringing in pets. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), around 3 thousand Brazilians intend to leave Lebanon. The estimate is that the Brazilian community in the country is around 20 thousand people.

Previously scheduled to arrive in Beirut on Friday (4), the flight had to be postponed due to the incessant attacks and bombings by Israel. The assessment of the safety conditions of the airspace and close to the airport meant that the rescue was postponed.
