A Yemeni TV reporter was the victim of an attack by the Israeli Army in the region; 112 journalists have died since the start of the conflict, says UN

Palestinian journalist Ala’a al-Hums, who worked for a television channel Al-Masirah, from Yemen, was killed in an Israeli bombing of the Gaza Strip this Monday (12.Feb.2024). According to the spokesman for the Houthi rebel group, Mohamed Abdelsalam, to the portal Al Jazeerashe was at her home, east of Rafah, in the Gaza Strip.

Abdelsalam published “condolences” to the journalist’s family on her profile on X (formerly Twitter). She also stated that “Yemen will continue with its supportive stance and that any escalation will be met with further escalation”.

On Sunday (Feb 11), the Israel Defense Forces began a series of air strikes on the Shaboura district, located in the central region of the city of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

On February 1, UN (United Nations) experts condemned Israeli attacks against Palestinian journalists in Gaza. Since the start of the conflict, on October 7, 2023, at least 112 press professionals have been killed in the enclave and many others have been injured.
