Man suspected of killing young man with sword in London is Brazilian

The 36-year-old man who attacked civilians and killed a teenager with a sword in London has Brazilian citizenship. The attack occurred on April 30 and left 4 people injured.

Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo was detained by the London police and appeared before a judge this Thursday (May 2, 2024). He also has Spanish nationality and is a resident of Newham, a region close to the British capital, according to local authorities.

The attack took place at Hainault station in northwest London. The victim, a boy named Daniel Anjorin, aged 14, was rescued, but succumbed to his injuries. Another 4 people– including 2 police officers– were injured.

Arduini was charged with two attempted murders, two serious bodily injuries, aggravated robbery and possession of a bladed weapon. According to the case’s investigator, Larry Smith, the case is complex and the police are analyzing the motivations for the crime.

“We are beginning to reconstruct the facts of what happened on Tuesday. I want to thank all the people who collaborated […] Anyone who has not yet spoken to police and has any information should contact police as soon as possible.”, he declared.

Questioned by Poder360the Ministry of International Relations said it was monitoring the case through the Consulate General of Brazil in London.
