“Strengthening relations and expanding trade exchanges is among the international priorities of the Brazilian government, which promoted two high-level official missions to China in 2023 and 2024 – the first led by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the second by vice-president and minister Geraldo Alckmin”, says a note from the MDIC.

Last month, Alckmin and China’s Vice Minister of Commerce (MOFCOM), Wang Shouwen, discussed trade and economic relations between the two countries.

Brazil and China have committed to joining efforts to revitalize the World Trade Organization (WTO), which is one of the four themes under discussion in the G20 Trade and Investment Working Group.

They also highlighted the success of the last meeting of the Sino-Brazilian High Level Concertation Commission (Cosban), held in June in China.

On that occasion, Alckmin met with President Xi Jinping. The two countries reinforced their interest in seeking synergies in development, investment and integration policies.

Among the topics discussed at the meeting are partnership in the aeronautical industry, investment in the automotive industry, commercial defense, e-commerce and agricultural technology.
