President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva spoke on Saturday (9) with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the current international political and economic scenario. The phone call, which lasted 40 minutes, was a Putin initiative.
According to a statement issued by the GOV agency, the Russian President shared information about his ongoing discussions with the United States and recent peace efforts between Russia and Ukraine. He also thanked Brazil for the commitment and interest of Brazil on this theme.

On the other hand, the Brazilian said that he has always supported dialogue and the search for a peaceful solution and reaffirmed that his government is available to contribute to what is necessary, including the group of Friends of Peace, launched by initiative of Brazil and China.
They also talked about cooperation between both countries within the BRICS. “President Putin congratulated Brazil for the results of the BRICS summit held on July 6 and 7 in Rio de Janeiro. In the bilateral sphere, they reinforced their intention to organize the upcoming edition of the Brazil-Russian high level of cooperation committee later this year,” says the statement.
