Ingredients
Potatoes (quantity as needed)
Vegetable oil for frying
Salt to taste
Directions
- Cut the potatoes into thin, uniform sticks. This helps ensure that all the potatoes fry evenly.
- Dry the potato sticks well with paper towels to remove excess moisture. This helps to get crispier fries.
- Pour a sufficient amount of vegetable oil into a deep pan or frying pan. Make sure there is enough space for the potatoes and that the oil completely covers the sticks.
- Some people like to pre-fry in two steps. The first at a lower temperature, to cook the potatoes, and the second at a higher temperature, to brown them. This is optional, but may result in crispier potatoes.
- When the oil is hot (approximately 175-180°C), add the potato sticks in small batches so as not to lower the temperature of the oil.
- Fry until the potatoes are golden and crispy.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove the potatoes from the pan and place them on paper towels to drain the excess oil.
- Immediately season with salt to taste while the potatoes are still hot.
- Serve the fries while still hot and enjoy!
