Ingredients
1 cup white rice
2 cups of water
4 cups of milk
1 can of condensed milk
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
Lemon peel (optional)
Cinnamon powder to taste
A bit of salt
Directions
- In a pan, place the rice and water and lead to medium fire.Â
Cook until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. - Add the milk to the pan and bring to a boil over medium heat.Â
Stir occasionally to prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom of the pan. - When the rice is cooked and the milk is boiling, add the condensed milk, vanilla essence, lemon peel (if using) and a pinch of salt.Â
Mix well. - Continue cooking over medium-low heat, stirring regularly, until the rice pudding starts to thicken and reaches the desired consistency.Â
This usually takes about 20 to 30 minutes. - Remove the lemon peel and discard it.Â
Transfer the rice pudding to individual bowls or a large bowl. - Allow to cool at room temperature for a few minutes, then refrigerate to cool completely.
- Before serving, sprinkle cinnamon powder over the rice pudding.
