Ingredients
1 ½ cups wheat flour
¾ cup cocoa powder
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon of baking soda
¼ teaspoon of salt
½ cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
1 cup of sugar
2 big eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 cup of milk
½ cup hot water
chocolate ganache (optional)
Brigadeiro or other filling of your choice
Sprinkles, chocolate shavings or other decoration (optional)
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a medium-sized rectangular tin.
- In a bowl, sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.Â
Reserve. - In another large bowl, beat butter and sugar until creamy.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.Â
Add the vanilla essence and mix. - On low speed, add the flour mixture in three parts, alternating with the milk.Â
Start and end with the flour mixture.Â
Mix until smooth. - Add the hot water to the dough and mix carefully until fully incorporated.
- Pour the batter into the greased tin and bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely.
- When the cake is cold, cut it into layers or into small pieces.
- In sterilized glass jars, place a layer of cake, followed by a layer of chocolate ganache or brigadeiro.Â
Repeat the layers until you fill the pot, ending with a layer of ganache or brigadeiro. - Decorate with sprinkles, chocolate shavings or other embellishments, if desired.
- Close the jars tightly and refrigerate for a few hours before serving.
