The Chinese Navy expelled on Wednesday (13) the USA USS USS Higgins (DDG-76) of territorial waters near Huangyan Dao, known in the West as an atoll of Scarborough, in Southeast Asia.
According to the command spokesman, senior captain He Tiecheng, the vessel entered the “Chinese government permission” area and was tracked, monitored, warned and expelled “in accordance with laws and regulations”.
Beijing accuses Washington of “severely violating China’s sovereignty and safety” and “harming regional peace and stability”, reiterating that their naval forces remain at full alert to defend, “resolutely”, the rights and the Chinese territorial integrity.
The episode with the USS Higgins It is part of a climbing scenario in Manila’s provocations, which acts as Washington’s main ally in Southeast Asia.
The Huangyan Dao region has been the target of disputes for years and, under US political and military coverage, the Philippine government has expanded confrontation maneuvers with China, sending coastal guard vessels and promoting blockages and interceptions in areas claimed by Beijing.
Behavior maintains high tension and serves Washington’s strategic interests to surround China and justify constant military presence in the region.
US military expansion and risk of direct confrontation
In recent years, the Philippines has deepened their US military dependence, authorizing the installation of advanced missile and drone systems in the archipelago and performing joint operations in sensitive areas of the Southern Sea of China.
In addition, Manila has sought approach with Taipe, which affronts the Chinese position of considering Taiwan part inseparable from her territory.
The renewed military alliance reinforces the attempted US strategic siege against China and increases the risk of deliberate maritime incidents, creating permanent outbreaks of instability in one of the world’s most important commercial routes.
The expulsion of the US destroyer occurs days after a new episode of friction near Huangyan Dao, when Filipine authorities alleged collision between a Chinese navy vessels during pursuit of a Philippine boat.
Although Beijing did not confirm the collision, he reaffirmed that his forces acted within legality and professionally to protect his sovereignty.
The incident is part of a series of naval clashes that are repeated in the region, a direct result of the Filipine Policy of Unconditional Alignment to Washington and its willingness to serve as an operational basis for military actions against China.
