Ingredients
1 cup (tea) sugar
1/2 can of condensed milk (200g)
300g fresh grated coconut flakes
240 ml hot water
Directions
- Place the sugar in a heavy saucepan and heat over low heat. Stir occasionally until it melts and caramelizes.
- Gradually add the hot water, increase the heat to medium and continue stirring until the syrup reaches the thread stage.
- Add the freshly grated coconut flakes and mix constantly until all the liquid has dried up.
- Add the condensed milk, reduce heat to low and mix until the ingredients are homogeneous.
- When it reaches the texture you prefer, transfer the candy to a mold and spread it out evenly.
- Wait for it to cool at room temperature, cut into pieces and the coconut candy is ready to serve.
