Ingredients

  • 200g semi-sweet chocolate

  • 150g of butter

  • 200g sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 100g wheat flour

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

  • 100g walnuts or chestnuts (optional)

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C and grease a square or rectangular pan.
  • Melt the semi-sweet chocolate and butter in a bain-marie or in the microwave in short bursts. Stir until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  • In a large bowl, mix the sugar, eggs and vanilla extract until the mixture is creamy.
  • Add the melted chocolate mixture to the bowl of dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Sift the flour and salt over the chocolate mixture and mix until the flour is fully incorporated.
  • If desired, add walnuts or chestnuts and mix.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs, but not completely wet.
  • Leave to cool in the pan for a while and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy!
