On September 7, Brazil’s Independence Day, the Brazilian delegation was present at the end of the Avante Feast with a series of political and cultural activities. The coincidence of the date reinforced the defense of national sovereignty and the importance of international solidarity, projecting the voice of Brazil in the world progressive scenario.
The first agenda was the bilateral meeting between Aldo Arantes, member of the Central Committee, and Tiago Alves Ferreira, of the PCdoB National Youth Commission, with Jorge Cordeiro, leader of the PCP and member of the Political Commission. The meeting dealt with the Brazilian reality, the conditions of struggle and the strengthening of democracy in the country. The Portuguese leaders showed special interest in Jair Bolsonaro’s trial and his political developments.

Following, the delegation participated in the international meeting promoted by the PCP International Relations Commission, which brought together more than 50 parties from all regions of the world. The space was dedicated to the exchange of experiences and the articulation of joint actions against imperialism, reinforcing the need for multilateralism and cooperation between peoples and organizations.
PCdoB was represented by Moara Crevelente, the International Relations Commission, which transmitted the greeting of President Luciana Santos and the Secretary of International Relations, Ana Prestes, to the present parties. In his intervention, he said:
“We congratulate the PCP for the 49th anniversary of the Festival of Avante and highlight its internationalist role. We reinforced the urgency of the struggle for peace and against imperialism, the resistance of the Brazilian people in the face of the offensives of the empire and solidarity to Cuba, Venezuela, Colombia, Palestine and Sahara West. and the importance of international solidarity to strengthen common struggles. ”
Another relevant moment was the launch of the second edition of Aldo Arantes book, mastery of minds. The work, which had already been consolidated as a reference in the analysis of the rise of the far right and cultural war, incorporates new texts on neo -fascism and cultural war, environment and cop 30, the causes of the fall of Lula’s approval in research, the illegality of amnesty to scammers and socialist democracy in China. The book denounces the role of neoliberalism, fake news, big techs, and military influence as threats to democracy, while proposing political education and popular mobilization as ways of resistance. The launch had a good participation of the public, which dialogue with the author around the challenges of building a progressive hegemony in Brazil.
The activities culminated in the closing rally, with speeches by Paulo Raimundo, manager of the PCP, Manoel Rodrigues, director of the newspaper Avante!, And Gonçalo Lopes, leader of the Portuguese Communist Youth (JCP). Raimundo reaffirmed the feast of Avante as an expression of solidarity, peace and democracy, and stressed that “while there are those who propagate hatred and war business, here is built unity, fraternity and struggle for peace.” He also greeted the resistance of Palestine, Cuba, Venezuela and Western Sahara, defending the historical mission of peoples to build a society free from oppression and exploitation.
The outcome of the program had a strong cultural component. The Samba Without Borders group cheered the audience with Brazilian music classics, such as “Zé do Caroço”, by Leci Brandão, and what is, what is ”by Gonzaguinha. Samba, a symbol of popular resistance, won the audience and brought the vibrant energy of Brazil to the party stage.

At the end of the show, the crowd sang slogans that also echo in Brazil: “Bolsonaro in jail” and “no amnesty”. The spontaneous screams synthesized the feeling of international solidarity and support for the struggle of the Brazilian people against authoritarianism and justice.
Thus, September 7 at the Avante party was tiered with green and yellow with the active participation of the Brazilian delegation. Among political debates, book launch and cultural celebration, the presence of PCdoB left the defense of sovereignty, anti -fascism and solidarity among peoples.
