The book “Guatemala and Palestine under the genocidal pitch of Israel-a history silenced by the hegemonic media” (Papyrus Publisher, 126 pages, R $ 35), by Leonardo Wexell Severo, will be released next Thursday (2), at 18:30, at the rectory building of the Federal University of Paraná, in Curitiba.

Bringing together leaders of social, union and partisan movements, the event will be a manifestation of solidarity with Palestine.

“By explaining state terrorism and blood baths that support our statement that ‘the US is the new 3rd Reich and that Zionism is the Nazism of our day’, Leonardo’s book becomes an indispensable reading,” said Ualid Rabah, president of the Palestinian Arab Federation of Brazil (FEPAL), which calls the activity and will also be present.

According to Ualid, “this important work, in the face of so many horrors, calls us to be companions of combat, generous, collective, for the victory of humanity.” In essence, he reported, “it is an impactful contribution to the cause of freedom.”

Women and children are the greatest victims

According to Leonardo Severo, “when Israel has already murdered nearly 70,000 Palestinians, he injured another 166,000, and changed more than four thousand children, in a population of just 2.2 million people in Gaza, the people’s demonstrations grow and the voices of the world’s governments and the United States rise.”

Knowing closely the distinct realities, distanced for more than 12,000 kilometers, Severus describes the atrocities he witnessed in Palestine in 2000 and 2015, when he visited the occupied territories of Gaza and the West Bank, and of what he documented in Guatemala in 2013 and 2024.

“If in Palestine I witnessed children with eyes leaked by rubber-lined steel bullets, simply by throwing stones in the tanks of the invaders, in the Central American country I proved the barbarism of Zionist racism against the indigenous Mayan. There, Israel advised the dictatorships to massacre, raise concentration camps, ammunition factories and rape.” reported.

In Guatemala, according to official numbers, between 1960 and 1996, at least 200,000 people were murdered, and “missing” another 45,000, including five thousand children.
“From genocide and ethno -ethnocide against the guatemalate indigenous people emerged the term ‘Palestinization’, to designate the brutality employed against the whole of the civilian population, the murder of children, the elderly or women,” said Daniel Pascual, coordinator of the Peasant Unit Committee (CUC).

US isolation and Israel

In the assessment of Professor Francisco França (Kico), coordinator of the Brazilian Center for Solidarity to People and Fight for Peace (Ceboda-Paraná), “the planet is becoming aware of the genocidal posture of the United States and Israel, which is increasingly isolated, as is stamped in the giants and in the United Nations.

For him, “the book brings information so that people know the truth of the facts, the dimension and severity of crimes, and react.” Categorically, he stamped Kico, “the Zionists were present on the continent as a academy of torture and horror.”

In his presentation, the veteran journalist of the publication notebooks of the Third World and editor of Southern Dialogues, Paulo Cannabrava Filho, pointed out that the author “draws a powerful parallel between the tragedy of Palestine and the history of fights and violence in Guatemala – two distinct territories, but marked by the same colonial wound: imperialist domination, the exploitation of bodies and the cultures silence. original ”.

According to him, when opening these bonds, the author unmasks “the complicity of powers and transnationals with genocidal projects and points to the living resistance of people who refuse to disappear.”

For the researcher of the Human Rights Office of the Archdiocese of Guatemala and leader of the organization of children and daughters for identity and against forgetting and silence (Hijos), Raúl Najera, “this is the history that unites us, from Guatemala to Palestine: the genocide underway against our peoples, as well as the memory of struggles and the ancestral right to defend it”.

He emphasized that “this is the denunciation of this book by companion Leonardo Severo, that the hegemonic media tries to hide.”

Blunt denunciation

Guatemala Union Union leader (Unsitragua), Julio Coj, explained that “in the many decades in which he collaborates with the Latin American Popular and Popular Movement, Leonardo strives to defend social and labor rights, as well as the integrity of our peoples”.

As pointed out, the book is “a striking denunciation of imperialism and Zionism, two faces of the same coin in which repression and violence led to mass and selective murder, such as the kidnapping and ‘disappearance’ of 27 unionists on June 21, 1980 and, on August 24 of the same year, 17 union of the National Workers Center (CNT), among many others”.

The work brings a striking record of the San Juan Comalapa cemetery in Guatemala, on the cover, with the core printed photos of the author about war crimes in both countries, and an illustration in which Maringoni makes a denunciation of the occupation of the Zionist troops of Palestinian lands.

Among other entities, the event has the support of the Brazilian Workers Center (CTB), the Single Workers’ Center (CUT), Federation of Workers in Credit Companies in Paraná (FETEC-CUT-PR), Union of Public Education Workers of Paraná (APP) and Women’s Federation of Paraná.
