The President of the United States, Joe Biden, will announce to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva this Friday, in Washington, that the Americans will contribute to the fight against deforestation in the Amazon. With that, the country is expected to donate resources to the Amazon Fund.
The Brazilian program is aimed at combating deforestation and the development of sustainable projects in the Amazon. Norway and Germany are the fund’s biggest donors.
Lula landed in the US capital this Thursday (9). At Blair House, the mansion where the heads of state who will meet the US president stay, the Brazilian will have a meeting this Friday with Senator Bernie Sanders and members of the Democratic Party.
The president will also have a meeting with representatives of the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).

In the afternoon, at the meeting with Biden, the environmental issue, defense of democracy and misinformation will be on the agenda. Both presidents faced fascist attacks early in their terms.
Lula and Biden defeated far-right opponents at the polls: Jair Bolsonaro and Donald Trump.
Before boarding, Lula said that Brazil wants to build partnership and growth relations between the two countries: “For the development of our region, debating actions for peace in the world and against fake news”.
