Once again, the United States try to interfere with Brazilian internal policy. Apparently, bothered by the protagonism of BRICS in international geopolitics and Brazil in defending multilateralism and sovereignty, President Donald Trump decided to get into where he should not and made a post on his social network, on Monday (7), defending Jair Bolsonaro against what he considers to be a “witch hunt”.
Inelegable for eight years for trying, at all costs and in his favor, to reject the Brazilian electoral system and responding in court for attempted coup d’état, Bolsonaro, for Trump, “is not guilty of anything.” He also said that he will “accompany this witch hunt very close.”
Without citing names and in a short, blunt and direct note, President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva stated that “the defense of democracy in Brazil is a theme that is up to Brazilians. We are a sovereign country. We do not accept interference or guardianship of anyone”.

Lula also stated that “we have solid and independent institutions” and that “no one is above the law. Above all, those who pay against freedom and the rule of law.”
As reported, Lula ministers assess that Trump’s post, made precisely during the 17th BRICS summit, would be a reaction from the US negotiations to the group’s negotiations, which has defended multilateralism and the largest insertion of the global southern countries in the international scenario, as a counterpoint to US and European hegemony.
In addition, one of the agenda that has been discussed by group countries is the use of local currencies in their business transactions. “It is something that has no return. This is happening gradually, and happens until it is consolidated,” said Lula, on Monday (7), when questioned about the possibility of decalarization.
Such an alternative, as well as the strengthening of other nations against the US (especially China and Russia), seems to have, in fact, frightening Trump, whose policies have increased their isolation and brought serious internal and external problems to republican management.
On Sunday (6), Trump had already published another of his spoiled millionaire bravado: “Any country that aligns with BRICS anti -American policies will pay an additional 10%tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy. Thanks for the attention!”
