The attack by the United States and Israel against Iran this Saturday (28) left a trail of victims. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, which is part of the same humanitarian movement as the Red Cross, at least 201 people were killed and 747 injured.

The bombing that hit a girls’ primary school in the city of Minab, in Hormozgan province, killed 85 students. There were 170 girls between 7 and 12 years old. The information is from the Iranian state agency IRNA.

Following the attacks suffered, the Iranian government began to respond with missiles launched by the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). North American bases across the Middle East were hit, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Iraq, as well as military installations in Israel. The Israeli army has already ordered a forced evacuation in Isfahan. In the capital, Tel Aviv, attack sirens sounded, telling residents to take shelter against imminent bombardment.

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, asked the UN Security Council (United Nations) for immediate intervention in the conflict. As a result, countries such as China, France and Russia (all with veto power in the group) requested the meeting as a matter of urgency.

The Council will meet this Saturday afternoon to deliberate on the US and Israeli operation. The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, has already published a note in which he condemns the escalation of military violence after the first attacks and calls for an immediate end to the clashes so that the violence does not take on new forms, such as a “broader regional conflict”.
