Disapproval of United States President Donald Trump reached 63%, the worst level in his second term, according to a CNN/SSRS survey released this week. Those who approve it total 37%.
The survey was carried out between October 27th and 30th, with 1,245 voters consulted online or by telephone. In comparison with previous measurements, Trump had practically the same approval rating obtained in the same period of his first term, in 2017, when he scored 36%. In the case of those who reject him, the level is numerically a little higher than when he left the government in January 2021, with 62%.
Despite carrying out a flashy management and shouting in the name of a “great America again”, his management has not pleased the population. Today, issues linked to the economic area are among the biggest concerns of Americans — especially inflation and the high cost of living, especially food and fuel.

For 68%, “things are bad” in the country and 72% show greater dissatisfaction with the economy; 47% point to the economy and cost of living as the main challenges and about 61% say Trump’s policies have worsened US economic conditions.
Among the other elements that created strain on Trump are also the trade war he has been waging with other countries — as the imposition of high tariffs on imports, including against Brazil, resulted in an increase in the price of several products, as well as instability for the business community. For 56% of voters, Trump’s foreign policy decisions harmed the country.
The persecution of Latin Americans and mass deportations have also caused discomfort: 57% believe that Trump exaggerated the actions taken.
Likewise, the majority views the government shutdown with concern — the lack of budget approval, which is now 36 days old and is already the longest in the country’s history.
This situation, in addition to compromising management, demonstrates difficulties in negotiating with Congress. In this regard, 61% disapprove of the way the president is dealing with the situation; 31% consider the strike a crisis and 50% a serious problem.
Another fact raised is that 61% believe that Trumo has been exaggerating in the use of his powers as president.
Elections 2026
According to local media outlets, it is still too early to make any assessment, but one year before the country’s legislative elections, disapproval of the government could mean a boost to the opposition.
According to the survey, 47% of registered voters say they will vote for Democrats in their electoral district, and 42% for Republicans.
Another important point brought up by the survey is that 41% of voters argue that their vote will play the role of sending a message of rejection of Trump; another 21% say they will vote to support the president.
According to the survey, independent voters tend to go, in their majority, 44%, with Democrats, while 21% indicate a leaning towards Republicans; 19% say they haven’t chosen yet.
