It is a great option to serve as a dessert at parties and events or to give as a gift to friends and family.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg of sugar

  • 500 ml of water

  • 1 kg grated fresh coconut

  • Oil for greasing

Directions

  • In a large pan, place the sugar and water and lead to medium fire, stirring well until all the sugar dissolves.
  • Add grated coconut to the pan and mix well.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the mixture begins to pull away from the bottom of the pan and form a thick caramel.
  • Pour the mixture into an oiled baking dish, pressing down well with a spoon to level it.
  • Allow to cool and then cut into squares or diamonds.
  • Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
